Send Us Your #FormFollowsFunction Photos!

All dog breeds were bred to perform a specific purpose. We want to see our readers’ dogs doing the work they were bred to do to be shared on The Canine Chronicle!

Thank you Kristen Julian for sharing this Form Follows Function photo of your Weimaraner, “Olive” (GCH CH MACH Shannondale’s Special Agent BN RE MH FDC MX MXB MXJ MJB MXF T2B CA FCAT ACT2 ACT2J THDN RATN CGCA CGCU STR TKI ATT VSWB FITG NSD NRD VX3), doing what she was bred to do! According to the American Kennel Club, “Olive” has recently become the first Weimaraner in breed history to achieve an AKC Grand Championship, AKC Master Agility Championship and a Master Hunter Title.  Kristen says, “Olive proves the versatility of this amazing breed by excelling in conformation, agility and the field.  Olive currently has 55 AKC and WCA titles as well as a Versatile Excellent 3 Rating.” Beyond this, Olive is also a Sporting Group Winner and 2x Weimaraner Club Of America Duel Weimaraner Award recipient. Olive is owned by Kristen Julian and was bred by Allyson Chaney & Teresa Evans. Congratulations on your incredible accomplishments Olive!

According to the American Kennel Club, “The key figure of the Weimaraner’s early history was Germany’s Grand Duke Karl August, who held court in the town of Weimar. The duke, like so many European nobles of the age, was an avid sportsman. His dream was to develop the perfect hunting dog. The duke and his fellow noblemen at first used these unique-looking dogs as big-game hunters, in pursuit like bear, mountain lion, and wolves. As Europe’s population of these predators decreased, the Weimaraner found new work as an all-purpose hunter who points and retrieves gamebirds.”

Was your dog bred to hunt? Bred to herd cattle? Was he bred to rescue or guard? Was he bred to hunt rats? Please share your best Form Follows Function photos with us! We want to see them! Email Gia at Gia.Garofalo@caninechronicle.com with your photos!
