Remembering Howard Atlee
It is with great sadness we share the loss of Dachshund breeder, handler & judge, Howard Atlee at the age of 97.
Howard was best known for his Dachshunds, bred under the kennel name ‘Penthouse’, which he began raising on the rooftop of his New York City apartment. Howard later moved outside of the city and became an all-breed licensed handler and member of the PHA. Howard was an AKC licensed judge for 30 years as well as a founding member of Knickerbocker Dachshund Club and several other breed and all breed clubs.
Outside of dogs, Howard was a US Navy veteran and had a lifelong career in the Broadway Theatre as a press agent, publicist and later in life as an actor.
The Canine Chronicle extends our deepest condolences to Howard’s family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
