Papillons In Paradise – The 65th Papillon National Specialty

65th Annual Papillon Club of America National Specialty was held on June 1st through June 9th 2018 at the Park Inn by Radisson Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. As usual, the week was jam-packed with fun events for eager Papillon fanciers from all over the world. The Papillon Club of America offered two obedience trials and two rally trials. Three agility trials were held off site in Punta Gorda, Florida. There were three specialties in addition to the National Specialty Regular Classes and Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes. The specialties were held the days prior to the National, with two being hosted as Papillon Club of America Regional Specialties and one as the Sunshine State Papillon Club Specialty. All the events were well-attended and exhibitors demonstrated great comradery throughout the week.

The seminars that were held throughout the week included “Structure, Movement & Pedigree Analysis” by Dr. Carmen Battaglia, “How To Research A Pedigree” by Ms. Charlotte McGowan, and “A Lifetime in Papillons” by Ms. Arlene Czech. The annual genetics seminar was presented by Andi Meloon. Judges’ Education Chairman Lou Ann King presented the Judges’ Education Seminar and coordinated ringside mentoring for several prospective Papillon judges throughout the week. Exhibitors also attended a poolside welcome party, Phalene match, Rescue Parade, the PCA Annual General meeting and Top 25 Exhibition. Friday evening was the Awards Celebration. GCH Involo Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ was awarded the 2017 PCA Gold Butterfly and GCH Medina’s Luck Be A Lady was awarded the 2017 PCA Silver Butterfly.

Best of Breed winners for the preceding specialties include the following: GCH Wingssong Winning Colors under Judge Mr. Mickey Feigelson at the Papillon Club of America Regional Specialty, GCH Involo Man In The Mirror under Judge Mrs. Charlotte Patterson at the Papillon Club of America Regional Specialty and GCH Sir Newton under judge Mr. Richard Mullen at the Sunshine State Papillon Club Specialty.
