I just couldn’t stay away! A bad back can’t stop me now! I’ve found a new venue in which to adjudicate; one that does not include standing out in the rain, on dirt floors, or in the blazing sun ‘til perspiration runs rampant in places I will not mention. No luggage lugging (no pun intended), no missed or late flights, no cancellations, no hours of boredom in the airplanes broken up by moments of sheer fear when turbulence rears its unsuspecting head! No toy breeds first thing in the cold outdoor mornings–trying to go over the little guys, shivering and unhappy and on the other hand, no trying to keep the big guys–mostly hairy and/or black–cool in the blazing midafternoon sun. There’s no more testing my bravery when the guard dog starts rolling his eyes as I approach, or announcing his welcome with a low, rumbling emanating from within! These welcoming effects are not limited to the working, herding or hound dogs. There were times when the smallest toy breed greeted me with much the same reluctance. They may not be as fearsome, but that behavior is not permissible from them either.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss all of the above, but that was then and this is now!
