When this year began, what were your plans for it? Did you plan to lose weight? Get in shape? Finish your promising youngsters? Get your special into the Top 20?
Those are things you were for–ideas for improvement, plans for progress in life and in dog sports.
When this year began, no one could have predicted what actually happened, and how it would impact your plans. How have you handled the series of monkey wrenches hurled into your life?
If you’re like many, your Quarantine 15 is trying to turn into a COVID-19 (pounds, not germs!) That gym you joined? Yeah, no one else could go, either, and maybe you’re still having to pay for it. Finishing your young dogs and flying high with your special? No progress there either.
It’s very human to focus on the monkey wrenches–to be frustrated with the weight and yet still stress-eat. To think about getting workout equipment in your home and get overwhelmed with the logistics and expense of it. To rail against the government, the clubs and the stupid virus that’s kept you and your dogs home for far too long now.
Being ‘against’ is normal and it keeps you stuck. Being ‘for’ takes some thought and focus, and is the only way to make progress.
Let’s take a tiny trip into your brain and have a look at how it works. Don’t worry–you’ll get just enough information to be able to easily change your focus from ‘against’ to ‘for.’
