The AKC National Championship, presented by Royal Canin, once again drew thousands of dog fanciers to Orlando, Florida. After the show on December 14 and 15, 2024, the Canine Chronicle asked the Group and Best in Show judges for their comments. The AKC National Championship is renowned for its recognition of breeders and owner-handlers through its Bred-by-Exhibitor competition and National Owner-Handled Series finals, as well as its Junior Showmanship finals. These Best in Show and Finals judges were also asked for their comments. Read on to see what they had to say…

The Sporting Group was first into the great, red-carpeted ring. Clay Coady of Paradise Valley, Arizona called judging this group “…truly an honor. The AKC National Championship can be counted on for the quality of the entries, and this year was no exception. Congratulations to the breeders, owners, and handlers for producing and exhibiting these splendid dogs!

“I hadn’t judged a dog show in more than a year; this was the first I’d seen the dogs I placed. I pulled nine dogs–more than I was supposed to include in my cut–and all nine were deserving of ribbons.” Mr. Coady’s placements went to:
