DWAA Inducts David Frei Into the Hall of Fame

(New York, NY–February 12, 2018) – The Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) held its annual banquet February 10 at the New Yorker in Manhattan. Jen Reeder, DWAA President, gave the opening remarks; DWAA Vice President and bestselling author Laura Coffey shared book marketing tips; Marty Becker, America’s Veterinarian and founder of Fear Free, gave the keynote speech; Maxwell Medallion winners received their medallions; Special Award winners received $14,000 in prize money; and Carol Bryant, founder of Fidose of Reality, received the DWAA Distinguished Service Award.
David Frei was inducted into the DWAA Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to the field. Frei was honored for his 27 years of hosting the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on USA Network, 16 years of hosting the National Dog Show on NBC, and 13 years as the director of media relations for Westminster as well. Also, he won two DWAA Maxwell Awards for his books, Angel By My Side and Angel On A Leash.”
Upon learning of receiving the award, Frei stated in an earlier release:
“I am truly humbled by this honor given to me by my peers and colleagues and friends,” Frei said. “To be a part of this collection of great and talented people who are already inductees is truly special. I know that I share with them the great fortune of having wonderful dogs making my life better every single day. I thank the Dog Writers Association of America for including me.”
