Congestive Heart Failure in Dogs: Hope for the Future through Research and Innovation
Heart disease is common in dogs, and a substantial proportion of affected dogs suffer from congestive heart failure as their disease progresses. Veterinary medicine has seen significant advances in the understanding of and treatment of congestive heart failure in the past few years and the future is bright as we look to novel ways to improve both the quantity and quality of life for dogs living with heart disease. This lecture will review disease processes that contribute to congestive heart failure and its progression, current medications used to treat heart failure, and novel treatment approaches (medical and non-medical) to address this important syndrome in dogs.
