Breed Essence with Jane

Many breeds have an epigram. That short distinctive line, or quote that instantly gives you a mental picture of the essence of the breed. That little something maybe a breeder, judge or exhibitor mentioned or a sentence from the breed standard. These one-liners hit the nail on the head and are thought provoking. This week’s vignette in this series is the Basenji.

“The general appearance is one of springy poise and alertness, greatly resembling an antelope.” -1943 AKC Breed Standard

Thank you, Glen Dymock of England for this and many other historical photos.

Tells us about your breed.  Is there a One Liner that captures the essence of your breed? One line that gives a mental picture? We would love to hear from you.  Email me at Jane.Myers@CanineChronicle.com
