I have often pondered why some nations were so very adept at creating pedigree dog breeds.

Of course, the English are right up there in the “dog breed creators” league, but easily rivaling them–especially if we are talking about the creation of truly ‘iconic’ pedigree dog breeds–has to be the Germans.

The Rottweiler, Dobermann, German Shepherd, Schnauzer, Dachshund, Great Dane and (some whisper) Poodle, can all claim Germany as their homeland.

It’s a pretty impressive list, isn’t it?

And added to that glorious role call is the subject of this month’s profile, the Boxer.
