Black Cocker Spaniel Wins Sporting Group at The 148th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
The Black Cocker Spaniel of Lynnfield, MA, handled by Per Ingar Rismyhr and owned by Joy E Stevens, won the Sporting Group under judge David L. Kittredge of Rochester, NY at the 148th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina Pro Plan, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Micah, a 2.5-year-old male, officially known as GCHG CH Rejoices To The Point, took top honors among the 35 dogs entered within the Sporting Group. Westminster will see over 2,500 entries in conformation, with two days of Best of Breed judging from Monday, May 13 – Tuesday, May 14, culminating with the Group and Best in Show competitions.
The Sporting Group was televised live on FS1 on Tuesday, May 14 followed by the crowning of Best in Show on FS1 from 7:00–11:00 p.m. EDT. The Empire State Building illuminated the New York City skyline in Westminster’s iconic purple and gold to celebrate the 148th annual event.
