A Note From President and CEO Dennis Sprung on AKC’s 140th Anniversary

Dear Friends,

On this afternoon of our 140th Anniversary I thank each of you personally for your extraordinary accomplishments on behalf of dogs and The Great American Kennel Club.  We are celebrating today in Washington D.C. hosting “Canines at the Capitol” with several Senators and Representatives. Yesterday we had the privilege of lighting both the iconic Helmsley and Empire State Buildings in AKC’s honor.

Everyone on staff past and present deserves praise and gratitude for making each dog’s life better.  Along with our 5,037 clubs and 5 affiliate organizations, you have made a significant positive difference.  The devotion of breeders, exhibitors, handlers, Juniors, club members and Delegates to responsible ownership and breeding has enhanced the AKC Universe and welcomed the public to daily enjoyment with their dog, a special member of our family.

Congratulations to the Board and those who served earlier from 1884 to today on the incredible feat of protecting man’s best friend and enhancing our registration and sports over 14 decades.

Once again my thanks to each of you!
