Do you watch Groups when you go to a show? It’s one of the best ways to improve your handling skills, yet many people don’t take advantage of this learning opportunity.
Why should you watch Groups? There are so many reasons – you can find friends and learn about other breeds by sitting ringside and asking questions. You can train your eye on movement more easily because the rings are bigger, so the dogs move more. And you can watch the great owner-handlers and professional handlers, so you can learn how to showcase your dog like they do.
Here’s what you won’t see them do – fumble with their lead, struggle to show the bite, or yank their dog around on the move. Those are very common mistakes that owner-handlers make, and it makes them look like novices in the ring. Even worse, it keeps the judge from being able to easily evaluate the quality of their dog.
