Did you know there’s a non-invasive therapy for your dog that speeds up healing in wounds, bone fractures, and soft-tissue injuries, minimizes the need for pain killers and other drugs, is well-tolerated, and generally requires no sedation?

It’s called shockwave therapy, and part of the shock is that it remains underutilized in dogs. But that’s changing.

In this article, I’ll explain what shockwave is, why it can help your dog, and how its use is becoming more common (and available) in small-animal veterinary medicine. I’ll also share insights from E.W. “Buff” Hildreth, DVM, a performance horse veterinarian from Richmond, Texas, whose practice also treats working farm and ranch dogs, and Kevin Cochran, Equipment Consultant at the shockwave developer Curative Sound, whose portable shockwave device is increasingly being used in small-animal rehab and general practices.
