Blink And You’ll Miss Them! The Nation’s Speediest Dogs Crowned At AKC Fast Cat Invitational

The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization that is the world’s largest registry of purebred and mixed-breed dogs, and a leading voice for canine welfare and responsible ownership, is excited to announce the winners of the 2025 AKC® Fast CAT® Invitational. The event took place October 15-18, 2025 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, OH. The five fastest dogs from each breed, determined by their rankings in the AKC Fast Coursing Ability Tests (Fast CAT), were invited to compete in the 6th annual AKC Fast CAT Invitational.

Over three days of preliminary runs, each dog competed twice in one of two divisions: Pure Speed and Speed of the Breed. In the Pure Speed division, the top 10 fastest dogs within each height class were recognized based on their actual running times. In the Speed of the Breed division, the top 10 dogs that most exceeded their breed’s average speed were honored. The highest-ranking dog in each division earned the titles of 2025 Pure Speed Champion and 2025 Speed of the Breed Champion, respectively.

The winners:

A total of 420 of the best Fast CAT dogs from 47 U.S. states and three Canadian Provinces representing 196 individual breeds, came together to compete for a chance to be named Pure Speed Champion and/or Speed of the Breed Champion.
