AKC Reunite Announces Temperature-Sensing Microchip for Pets
AKC Reunite, the largest non-profit pet identification and recovery service provider in the United States and affiliate of the American Kennel Club®, is excited to announce the launch of a new temperature-sensing microchip, which will be available nationwide in mid-October.
This ISO standard 134.2 kHz microchip will identify your pet with a unique microchip ID number and read their temperature when scanned by an AKC Reunite ProScan +Temp or compatible temperature-sensing microchip scanner. This new technology will be helpful when implementing Temperature, Pulse, Respiration (TPR), a standard practice at veterinary visits and intake at animal shelters, providing a calming approach to wellness without a thermometer.
“We are excited to announce this new microchip” said Tom Sharp, President and CEO of AKC Reunite. “These products will lead to faster and happier wellness checks, which is great for pets, their owners and the pet professionals who work with them every day.”
This updated technology will also allow breeders to facilitate quicker temperature checks with easier, non-invasive monitoring.
