#NextGeneration Spotlight – Annabelle Fales
We want to see our readers #NextGeneration photos to be shared on The #CanineChronicle!
Thank you Annabelle for sharing these photos of your Scottish Terriers! Annabelle was kind enough to share her story of her beginning in the sport of purebred dogs. “My name is Annabelle Fales and I’m a 14 year old Junior member of the Scottish Terrier Club Of America. I was not born into a “dog show family”, so my mentors: Elizabeth Hernandez (Miss Beth), Nancy Hurren, Cindy Cooke, and Dr. Judi Fleischaker stepped in and have guided me along the path of learning and excelling in dog showing. My journey started about two to three years ago when my siblings and I were socializing puppies for Joanne Kinnelly after my parents had gotten a pet Scottish Terrier from Miss Beth. Joanne mentioned that I should show dogs. My parents didn’t have a background in show dogs but I persisted! They let me contact Miss Beth and ask her about starting to show. Miss Beth then proceeded to advise me and I learned how to strip my pet Scottie, Duncan, under Miss Joanne’s guidance. After we got him into shape and went to a few training classes, I went to my first dog show. I didn’t win at that show, but it sparked my interest in showing dogs. Fast forward to now, and you can see that I am still showing dogs!
I am currently showing Joni, (CH Fairway Nandina Heart Of Gold), owned by Nancy and Thomas R Hurren, and myself, and Georgette, (Anstamm Benscot Big Girls Don’T Cry) owned by Cindy Cooke, Elizabeth Hernandez, and myself in AKC Conformation and Junior Showmanship. Back in December, I went to the AKC National Championship week and finished Joni’s Championship at the Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay Specialty! We also won Best Junior Handler. In December, I received a show prospect puppy from Miss Beth. Her name is Angel, (Benscot The Devil Came Back To Georgia) owned by me and Miss Beth. I am so excited to get Angel trained and ready to go into the show ring! Once I have her trained, she will be my primary junior dog, show dog, and constant companion. I am so blessed to have so many great mentors in my life. Scotties are my passion, and I aim to be a lifelong student and fancier of the breed.”
Do your children train the puppies? Do they love to groom the dogs and get them show ready? Do they help whelp litters? Do they help take candid photos? Do your kids just love spending time with the dogs? Please share photos of your Next Generation (2 legged and 4 legged) with us! We want to see them!
