Send Us Your #FormFollowsFunction Photos!

All dog breeds were bred to perform a specific purpose. We want to see our readers’ dogs doing the work they were bred to do to be shared on The Canine Chronicle!

Thank you Michelle Hinshaw for sharing this Form Follows Function photo of your Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, “Ailis” (Fireside’s Scandal at Helwater BN CD CGCA TKI DD WPD WWDX HWD VGS) doing what she was bred to do. She is pictured earning her Open Draft Title in 2021 at Southbound GSMDC’s 12th annual Swissypalooza event.  Michelle says, “Ailis” was one of the first few Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs to earn the Heritage Working Dog title offered by the GSMDCA to Swissies who have titled in three of the four heritage working events for the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. These heritage events include weight pull, pack hiking, herding and drafting.  ”Ailis” completed her Versatility Greater Swiss title in 2023 after earning her CD.  She is also an ambassador of her breed having participated in multiple AKC Meet The Breeds events.”

According to the American Kennel Club, “The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is a large, immensely strong worker famous for a dense coat of striking black, red, and white markings. Dependable and faithful, Swissies earned their feed as herders, drafters, and all-around pasture dogs.” Good girl Ailis!

Was your dog bred to hunt? Bred to herd cattle? Was he bred to rescue or guard? Was he bred to hunt rats? Please share your best Form Follows Function photos with us! We want to see them! Email Gia at Gia.Garofalo@caninechronicle.com with your photos!
