Holidays are glorious times to make memories, enjoy the festivities, and be together with family and friends. Let’s be honest. Holidays are all that, and hopefully more. How many marriage proposals are made over the holidays, or an announcement that a new baby is on the way, or news that a big promotion is forthcoming in the New Year? Yes. It is a season of delights whether it is from the foods we eat, the gifts we share, or the donations made to help others. Even the holiday music, which plays continuously, stimulates the endorphins that make us happy.

When the holiday plates, garlands, tree ornaments, and cookie recipes make their appearance, there can be no doubt. The clock starts ticking. It’s time to get organized. Shopping lists are made for all sorts of things. Let’s start with gifts, food, beverages (adult and not otherwise), candles, and a new tablecloth. The one which adorned the dining room table for countless years met its demise last year. A full bottle of Merlot completely soaked it, unexpectedly. The stains were beyond redemption. Perhaps the wines selected for this year’s feast will be either whites or champagne?

Fortunately, a good number of the gifts for family members have been purchased over the last month or two. The large closet on the first floor is crowded with the ones which have been wrapped. A table in the next room has all the reels of festive ribbon, paper, tape, and name cards ready to use. Sharp scissors in several sizes are standing in a glass jar along with different color pens. Wire shelves sit nearby to hold the unwrapped gifts until they get wrapped. It is quite a sight. How organized can you be?
