Table Talk

I feel so privileged to be able to share my thoughts and the “goings-on” in our special community with all of you every week! As part of that privilege I am going to take this opportunity to offer a word or two on perspective: As I was driving to the airport earlier in the week, I saw a man and his three little children walking down the street. The girls were clean and following dutifully behind their dad. Dad was pushing a stroller that was obviously filled with their belongings. This beautiful family was homeless and it broke my heart. Who knows what their story was, but dad was very obviously trying to do his best to take care of his family and his girls loved him: This I could tell just by looking at them. Shame on me for mumbling about the traffic and feeling sorry for myself because I was going to the airport again. Before you get upset over a loss at a dog show, or a traffic jam, or another occurrence that might otherwise be categorized as trivial by someone less fortunate, think about this: Be thankful for your health and be thankful for the privileges before you. Remember that being part of our special dog fancy community is a privilege. Enjoy it and cherish it. Hug your family, hug your friends, hug your dogs and offer a helping hand to someone less fortunate.

On to the week’s events! I have heard such great things about the Sioux City shows this past weekend! Thumbs up to the show committee and all that made the circuit possible. You guys did a great job and I hear there are folks that will be putting your circuit on their show schedule for next year!

I am off to Fort Wayne this coming weekend: I’d love to catch up with you folks and hear about what you are up to! Look me up and let’s share some stories. As we near the end of the year, this show most often attracts a lot of the nation’s top dogs. I am looking forward to seeing great dogs and my friends from around the country.

Birthday wishes to Kathy Bilicich-Garcia, Katherine Wurz-Smoot (more fondly known as Kathy Chow), Rebecca Pentecost, Chris Manelopoulos, David Williams, Ernesto Lara and Hal Biermann.

Happy anniversary to Joe and Murrell Purkhiser!!!!! What a great couple!

I look forward to hearing about holiday travels and plans! Be careful out there my friends and hug your pooches!

Until next time!
