Tens Of Thousands Of Dogs Get Set To Go To Crufts 2015
Almost 21,500 dogs will be heading to the NEC in Birmingham from 5th-8th March, to compete in some of the world’s most prestigious canine competitions at Crufts 2015.
Kennel Club entry figures show that 21,427 dogs will be taking part in breed judging, Gamekeepers’ classes and the Obedience and Agility Championships, which matches 2014’s figures within one percent.
As ever, the event has a truly international flavour with 2995 dogs competing from overseas, compared to 2655 in 2014, an increase of 13 percent. Dogs from a total of 45 overseas countries will take part in the show, including Brazil, Canada and the Republic of Korea.
The number of breeds being shown at Crufts continues to grow, adding to the diversity of the event. The Griffon Fauve de Bretagne and Portuguese Pointer will compete in the Any Variety Import Register classes for the first time this year, helping these classes attract 149 dogs, an increase of 9 percent on 2014.
The Beauceron has its own breed classes for the first time, with 20 dogs of the breed having their first chance to go on to win Best in Show, and the Hungarian Kuvasz will be represented at Crufts for the first time in five years.
