Remembering Elaine Young
Family, friends and many in the sport of purebred dogs are mourning the passing of Elaine Young.
Elaine enjoyed judging both AKC and FCI shows for over 60 years. Born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Elaine was involved with her family’s livestock leading her to dogs, most notably Scottish Terriers in the 1950s. Elaine served for 12 years on The AKC Board of Directors as well as a member of a variety of All Breed and Parent Clubs.
Outside of Dogs, Elaine was involved in a variety of interests. She represented Canada in both the Olympic and British Empire Games in Track and Field. She had a successful modeling career, worked as a news writer focusing on women’s activities as well handling public relations for a variety of non-profits.
The Canine Chronicle extends sincere condolences to Elaine’s family and friends. She will be missed.
