Canine Chronicle Virtual Dog Show – You Be The Judge!
It is time to put your thinking caps on! For today’s Virtual Dog Show, we are asking our readers to be the judge and place the following three Pointer bitches First, Second, and Third AND to tell us why.
The AKC Official Breed Standard for the Pointer is available here. As quoted from the AKC Standard, the general appearance of a pointer is as follows: The Pointer is bred primarily for sport afield; he should unmistakably look and act the part. The ideal specimen gives the immediate impression of compact power and agile grace; the head noble, proudly carried; the expression intelligent and alert; the muscular body bespeaking both staying power and dash. Here is an animal whose every movement shows him to be a wide – awake, hard – driving hunting dog possessing stamina, courage, and the desire to go. And in his expression are the loyalty and devotion of a true friend of man.
UPDATE: Thank you to ALL for your participation. Our “at home” judges resoundingly chose Bitch A as their choice for first place.
If you have 3 dog photos you would like to share for this series or have any feedback – please email Cheslie at cheslie@caninechronicle.com. We look forward to your participation!

Bitch C has a better shoulder and forechest and is just generally “smooth all over.” She is longer in the loin than A but still balanced. I like the angles of her front pasterns better than Bitch A. I would bet she is the best mover who holds her outline moving.
Bitch A has a beautiful head and gorgeous cat feet. She is really typey but I prefer Bitch C’s topline, croup and tailset.
