2018 World Dog Show in Amsterdam Breaks Records – More Than 33,500 Entries!

World Dog Show Amsterdam 2018 Breaks Records

From 9 to 12 August 2018, the Dutch Kennel Club ‘Raad van Beheer’ organizes the World Dog Show 2018 under the motto ‘Show The World Your Talent’. A unique event in which everything revolves around dogs for four days. Not only are more than the unexpectedly high number of 33,000 dogs presented from all over the world and they represent (almost) all 350 dog breeds, but there are also many other activities with and for dogs.  With more than 200 trade stands you can’t miss shopping.

Record Registrations: More Than 33,500 Entries

The previous World Dog Shows in Europe attracted a lot of entries. Paris more than 21,000, the show in Leipzig last year had more than 31,000.

Last Wednesday the registration period closed for the World Dog Show 2018. The registration for the Benelux Winner Show, which is part of the World Dog Show, closed already at the end of June because the maximum number of dogs had been reached.

For the World Dog Show together with the Benelux Winner Show, no fewer than 33,500 dogs have registered. An absolute record!  See  https://wds2018.com/statistics/

Dogs Welfare Team monitors welfare dogs during World Dog Show

Because the health and welfare of dogs is very important, the Dog Welfare Team of the Dutch Kennel Club keeps a close eye on the welfare of the dogs during the World Dog Show. The team does this in and around the RAI Exhibition Center where the World Dog Show is held. Among other things, they pay attention to the fact that dogs do not sit in a bench for too long, do not have to stand on a (trim) table for too long, can have fresh drinking water and dogs can not be treated roughly. There is also close cooperation with the local police in Amsterdam. If the team determines that the welfare of a dog may be at stake, a report will be made. Depending on the severity, appropriate measures are taken. This can mean, for example, a disqualification of the dog for the event. Pinch collars are legally forbidden, even for foreign visitors. This is also checked during the World Dog Show.

The Dutch Kennel Club and the organising WDS team are very grateful for the enormous support we received from around the world for the World Dog Show 2018! See you all in Amsterdam and show the world your talent!
