Table Talk

Last Thanksgiving 26 million viewers watched the National Dog Show on NBC. All of us know this as the tape-delayed broadcast of the benched Philadelphia Kennel Club dog show that is sponsored by Purina. Th is broadcast is an excellent educational tool about our sport for families and individuals not familiar with the sport of purebred dogs. As an added opportunity to educate the general public about our sport, Purina has joined forces with the Beverly Hills Kennel Club and NBC Sports Group and will be taping the Beverly Hills Kennel Club this March. The dog show will be broadcast on Easter Sunday on USA, with two encore broadcasts later in the month.

It is with great sadness that I have to report the loss of two more icons of our sport. First, I offer condolences to the friends and family of Carl Sanders on his recent passing. Our dog family also lost another legend with the passing of the great handler and judge, Bob Forsyth. We know he and Jane are together again watching over us all and cheering us on at the shows. On a happier note, warmest congratulations to Ashley and Brendon on their recent marriage. May you have many happy years together!!

I am off to York, PA this Monday for the Shar-Pei National. I’m looking forward to seeing friends from across the globe that I have not seen in way too long. Safe travels to all, and to all good luck! We look forward to a great week of great dogs.
