All Revved Up
Yes, Dogs are our life, but we all have some sort of a side passion. A little something, we do to otherwise occupy our minds. I have always been amazed by the number of Motor Heads in the dog world. Cars and motorcycles ranging from the classics to just plain funky are hidden in some of dogdom’s secret garages. What’s in Your Garage? Send me a photo and bio for our weekly segment, All Revved Up!
This 1942 Willys Woody belongs to Nancy Lovelady and her husband Jim. It is one of 5 produced in 1942 and there are 2 left in existence today. This car was rebuilt from the ground up as they only had a title and very few parts to begin with. The build took 20 years was recently completed in 2020. The all metal body was rebuilt by Jim, with the final body work and paint completed by Campisi Paint in Hayward, Ca. The wood body (maple with mahogany trim) was assembled by Doug Carr, of The Wooden Car, Signal Hill, Ca. The original wood was sourced from another project, 15 years before the car was finished. The original frame was reinforced and rebuilt as a performance drivetrain. The engine is a 331 Hemi that was sourced from a 1955 donor car and has been completely rebuilt with high performance parts and is naturally aspirated. Just this past weekend this Willys won the Harley Davidson Battleborn Best In Show trophy. Each show sponsor chooses their BIS car, and this Willys Won!! Congratulations Nancy & Jim!
