Westbury Kennel Association Still Holding Fall Show

The Westbury Kennel Association issued a statement regarding their Spring and Fall shows. It seems information is being circulated that their Fall show will not be held this year. That information is incorrect. Here is the statement from the club:

“There is misinformation circulating that Westbury has forfeited its fall dates and gone with holding their show in May only. That is false.   We added a Thursday show to the Ladies Kennel Association of America and Long Island Kennel Club shows in May. (May 19th - 22nd, the Premium is out now), in an effort to raise funds for our club to hold the Oct. Show. But as people were seeing the May show listed, many assumed that the May show was taking the place of our Oct. 2nd. show.  That is not so.

“As with the condition of the fancy in general, all the clubs here on Long Island have been faced with an uncertain future, forcing a few of the clubs to hold their shows off the Island, some as far up north as Massachusetts.  No one wants to see long time Kennel Clubs fold.  The remaining clubs here are trying to stay local to their communities and geographical locations, but may not be able to if entries continue to fall and costs continue to rise. Westbury is one of them.   We are still maintaining our shows in the Fall as part of a three day split event: Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30th., amend Oct. 1st with Suffolk County Kennel Club and Sunday, Oct. 2nd., with Westbury. Westbury offers NOHS  at both of their shows shows and fully supports Junior Handling with no fee to enter in Juniors.

“…Sadly, because of the misinformation, we lost very needed Specialties and Supported for our Fall show. The action of adding a second show was an effort to save the club and it would be sad for it to backfire on account of an assumed observation.”
