Remembering Mr. John Ronald
It is with great sadness we share the news that Mr. John Ronald of Umatilla, Florida passed away. John was an AKC judge, Samoyed breeder and active participant in the sport of purebred dogs for 55+ years.
John began successfully exhibiting and breeding Samoyeds under the Seadog prefix in the 1960s. He and his wife, Kathy, bred, owned and handled Multiple All-Breed Best In Show and Best In Specialty Show winning Samoyeds. One of John’s most successful Samoyeds was “Pepper,” MBIS/MBISS CH Polar Mist Dr. Pepper ROM, the Top Owner Handled Best In Show winning Samoyed for many years as well as the sire of 5 Best In Show winners. Not only an exhibitor, John was an active member of the Samoyed Club Of America, serving as the American Kennel Club Delegate for many years, and the Antietam Creek Samoyed Club.
In 1988, John became an AKC Judge. He was approved to judge Best In Show, the Working and Non-Sporting Groups and a handful of Herding Breeds. John enjoyed judging all over the world. Ever the gentleman, John was generous with his time and knowledge. He was known for his kindness – a mentor and friend to so many in the sport of purebred dogs!
The Canine Chronicle extends our deepest condolences to John’s wife, Kathy, family, friends and the entire dog fancy. He will be sorely missed.
