Remembering Dr. Richard Greathouse

It is with great regret that we report the recent passing of Dr. Richard Greathouse of Taylorsville, KY. Dr. Greathouse was a very respected judge of all Hound, Working, Terrier and Herding Breeds, Best in Show, and Junior Showmanship.

Before becoming a noted and popular judge, Dr. Greathouse successfully bred Collies, beginning in the 1950s. He was an avid fancier of various breeds including Collies, Shelties, Norwich Terriers, Papillons, and Newfoundlands. He was also very active in several dog clubs. He was the past president of the Collie Club of Kentucky and of the Louisville Kennel Club. Dr. Greathouse was an AKC delegate for many years. As a judge, he judged all over the country, including at many prestigious venues and National Specialties. Dr. Greathouse dedicated much of his life to the sport of purebred dogs.

Memorial information will be posted as soon as it is available. The memorial will be handled by Pearson’s Funeral Home in Louisville, KY.  As a retired Captain in the Navy, his ashes will be laid to rest at the cemetery in Fort Knox, KY with full military honors.
