Remembering Dr. Robert D Smith

We received the sad news that Dr. Robert D Smith of St Stephens Church, VA passed away on Saturday, May 25th 2019 following an automobile accident. Dr. Smith was a well-known and revered judge of all AKC Breeds.

Dr. Smith devoted much of his life to the sport of purebred dogs. He had been intimately involved in the sport for over 50 years. He was a past successful breeder-owner-handler of American Foxhounds. He also dedicated time as a past member of the AKC Board Board of Directors, proposing many effective initiatives. His judging assignments took him all over the world and to most prestigious venues, including Westminster Kennel Club and the AKC National Championship. Most importantly, he was a friend and mentor to many.

The Canine Chronicle extends our heartfelt condolences to Bob’s wife Polly and his family during this time. We have lost a wonderful champion of purebred dogs.

The funeral for Dr. Robert D Smith will be held on Wednesday, May 29th 2019 at St. Timothy Catholic Church at 1:00 PM. There will be a reception immediately following in the parish hall.
