May 1st Is National Purebred Dog Day!
Today, Monday, May 1st, is National Purebred Dog Day! It is a day to celebrate the heritage, diversity, and predictability of the purebred dog. National Purebred Dog Day honors that each breed is a living legacy of the culture that created it for a reason. National Purebred Dog Day values all dogs, but especially purebreds that provide companionship, serve as guide dogs, earth dogs, search and rescue, military, police dogs, guard dogs, and much more!
According to NationalPureBredDogDay.com, Susi Szeremy, a writer and Puli enthusiast, created National Purebred dog day in 2013 in hopes to create an opportunity to bring balance to the conversation regarding responsible dog ownership by including the voice of purebred dog owners.
The AKC recommends a few different ways to celebrate National Purebred Dog Day – donate to a breed-specific rescue, share your love for your purebred with the hashtag #NationalPurebredDogDay, spend extra time with your dog or try a new activity with your dog!
