“A dream comes true. After four years of preparation, the time has come to present our unique event to the world, which I am sure will impress exhibitors and visitors – says Dino Muto, President of ENCI – The World Dog Show 2015 is a tangible expression of the beauty and passion the dog world stands for. From 6:30 am the atmosphere in the stands has been effervescent and the exhibitors have shown great enthusiasm a passion to show the different breeds of the world in the rings.

Official sponsor of this prestigious event is Royal Canin. Flavio Morchi, Director of Communications Scientific Royal Canin Italy said: “We are very pleased to sponsor the World Dog Show this year. It’s a unique opportunity to convey to the general public of fans and breed specialists the technical and social values but also the passion for dogs and the importance of knowing and respecting their needs.”

During the conference, the partnership between ENCI and LEGAMBIENTE was presented and signed. The aim of this partnership will be improve the relationship between man and nature, with a particular emphasis between humans and pets. The goal will also be to foster a new attitude about dogs’ daily life in urban and rural environment, and sensitize the local institutions.

“ENCI is taking positive steps to spread the culture of respect for our four-legged friends, among specialists and experts in the canine sector as well as among fans and young people – says Dino Muto – focusing on animal welfare and on the quality of the friendship between man and dog”.

The World Dog Show, a unique event that returns after 15 years to Italy, is the ideal occasion to present this agreement between ENCI and LEGAMBIENTE. Certainly, the show represents an impressive sounding board of a joint effort.

“The best man’s friend, given to us from nature, has always been a great help for human life”, said Mr. Antonino Morabito, head of Legambiente National Wildlife and animal welfare. “Today, in a society with less opportunities for a daily contact with nature, the dog is the best fellow to remind us of the great responsibility we have in preserving our planet for present and future generations. The agreement between LEGAMBIENTE and ENCI intends to enhance the work of those who dedicate energy and love undertaking a fundamental commitment to society and nature”.

The first concrete action on the agreement with ENCI is the participation at the WDS2015 in Nature Alert, the European campaign to defend the standards for the protection of Nature (Habitats and Birds Directives), which has three major objectives:

1) to prevent the weakening of European rules in defense of Nature;

2) to make the European Commission focus on the love of European citizens for Nature;

3) to defend the ecosystem services, the socio-economic well-being and the human welfare offered by Nature.

Anyone can participate by dedicating a minute to sign the campaign on the website www.naturealert.eu with email,

name and surname. From today on, LEGAMBIENTE volunteers will invite exhibitors and visitors of the WDS2015 to provide shots and selfies to spread the campaign through social media with the two hashtags #AllarmeNatura – #itsmynature.

All updates from the ring, subdivided by breed and class, will be published in real time on the official website
