The Lake Shore Kennel Club presented an Oustanding Sportsman award to Pat Pramuk, long-time Shar-Pei breeder and dog fancier. Pat has been in dogs for well over 30 years and has contributed so much to the Shar-Pei breed. Congrats to her on this well-deserved recognition of her contributions to the sport.
Welcome back to the states to Ann Viklund, Bill Shelton, Ann Rairigh and the rest of our US fanciers that took the trip to the World Show in Moscow. I heard the show was a bit chaotic, but given there was a question at one point if the show would actually go on, a bit of chaos could be expected. Best In Show was won by a Black Russian Terrier over an entry of 19,000-plus dogs.
Great Western, Beverly Hills and Long Beach re-united this year for a cluster back at George Allen Field at Cal State University. Best wishes for continued success as the cluster works to re-gain interest and participation.
Meanwhile, the Seaside Spectacular Cluster in Ventura this weekend experienced an entry that was down from last year. This is the first year that this cluster has occurred under its newly formed partnership: Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association on Friday, and Burbank Kennel Club on Saturday and Sunday. The other clubs, Channel Cities and Santa Maria will hold shows next weekend at an alternate venue.
The storms in West Virginia over the last couple of weeks caused a great deal of havoc with the shelters in the area. Nestlé Purina sent a large food donation to assist the Fayette County Animal Shelter in their time of need. Kudos for pitching in and helping!
The Canine Chronicle extends our sincere sympathies to Jay Richardson and family on the loss of his father. We also extend our sympathies to the friends and family of Harriette Borsuch, former AKC judge and Field Rep who passed away recently. We are also sorry to report the passing of Buddy Downey and extend our sympathies to his son, Jeff, and daughter, Kristin. We wish Eddie Boyes a speedy recovery after his knee replacement surgery. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Alberto Berrios who suffered a stroke in Lima, Ohio recently.
