Remembering Laura Watson

We are sorry to report the passing of long-time Mastiff breeder Laura Watson Packer of La Selva Beach, California.

Laura was involved in the Mastiff breed since the 1990s.  She served on committees of the Mastiff Club of America and was proud to give her time to the breed she loved deeply. Despite her disability from multiple sclerosis, her love of Mastiffs never wavered.

Laura bred, owned and supported many top winners in the breed over the years including some that were multiple Best In Show winners. Dogs like Batboy, Vegas, Honey, Big Cheese, Dylan, Cali, Tank, Cash, Aji, Minnie and Ares are all dogs that will be remembered forever.

Ms. Watson knew a beautiful Mastiff when she saw one and she wanted those in the sport of purebred dogs to be able to enjoy and appreciate seeing them, too. Whether she was the breeder of the dog or not, she loved supporting her breed in the show ring.

Laura lost her fight with MS while resting peacefully at her home with her husband, Bob, and one of her beautiful mastiffs by her side.  She was a wonderful friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
