Norwegian Kennel Club Statement Regarding China as Host For 2019 World Dog Show
The Norwegian Kennel Club has relased this statement to the press:
“The Swedish Kennel Club (SKK) has given their support to NKK and our efforts for improving dog welfare in China. The SKK go even further in their statement by asking their General Assembly to either change their membership terms with FCI, or start negotiations to finalize their membership. The SKK has also decided to postpone deciding dates for FCI shows in 2018, pending the outcome of the GA’s decision.
The NKK has had a very good dialogue with our Swedish colleagues throughout the period following the FCI General Assembly in Milan, so I am therefore pleased that they can now present their views on the matter, says CEO Ms Trine Hage.
The SKK share the NKK’s standpoint in the matter of China as host nation of the WDS2019, and their members and judges are advised against participating at the show. SKK also expresses its full support towards NKK’s right to free speech. – It is unacceptable that a country that expresses its opinion shall be threatened with sanctions from FCI.”
