New Children’s Book “Peyton Goes to the Dog Show” Introduces Youngsters to the Sport of Dogs – and More than 50 Fabulous Breeds

Special Book Signing at AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Show on Friday, December 11, 2015

In her first children’s book, well-known judge and artist Lee Canalizo tells the story of a young girl’s visit to her first dog show. Lushly illustrated with paintings by internationally celebrated artist Martial Robin of France, this new hardcover takes children – and adults – on a spirited romp through the bustle of the “big top” at a dog show.

Fittingly, the idea for Peyton Goes to the Dog Show was born at a dog show, when Canalizo was snowed in during Westminster week at the Manhattan townhouse of her good friend Roger Rechler of Grandeur Afghan Hounds. As Rechler prepared homemade sauce for their spaghetti dinner, Canalizo started writing some doggy verse. With each sampling and critiquing the other’s work, the dinner got made and the book got written.

Written in charming rhymes that appeal to preschoolers as well as older grade schoolers, Peyton Goes to the Dog Show features 52 different dog breeds. Some, like the Labrador Retriever and Dachshund, are familiar to even the most casual dog lover. And some, like the Azawakh and Neapolitan Mastiff, are rarer breeds that have their own devoted followings.

Advance reviews of Peyton Goes to the Dog Show have been glowing. “Truly a treasure of a book that will introduce children of all ages to the wonderful world of dog shows,” says Wayne Ferguson, president of the Morris & Essex Kennel Club and Kennel Club of Philadelphia. “The images of more than 50 breeds, both well known and rare, are stunning.”

Patricia Craige Trotter, the internationally respected author, breeder, judge and educator, says Peyton Goes to the Dog Show reminds her of a wonderful book from her childhood, The Happy Tramp, that cemented her love for dogs and dogs shows. “This marvelous work by Lee Canalizo promises to take many a child on such a journey,” she says.

Canalizo and Robin will be signing books on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Robin’s booth in the vendor mall at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship (Orange County Convention Center, 9400 Universal Blvd., Orlando, Florida) from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A finely bound hardcover, Peyton Goes to the Dog Show retails for $29.95, and attendees at the Florida show will receive a $5 discount.

For those who will not be at the show, books are available from www.revodanapublishing.com/books/peyton. Shipping is free. Use the coupon code eukanuba for a $5 discount.
