Conformation Judges – Regular Status Announcement
The AKC Judging Operations Department has written to inform all judges, approved and permit, of a modification to the requirements for regular status as defined in the Judging Approval Process. As a result of the February 2013 meeting of the Board of Directors the following modification is effective immediately:
If a judge on permit status is not observed on permit breeds by an AKC Field Representative after three assignments, the judge must do three additional assignments. However, if the required three evaluations have not been received after the six assignments, the judge, upon request, would be granted regular status in these breeds.
This modification was adopted to assist those permit judges unable to meet the current requirements for regular status as a result of assignments at events in which a member of the Executive Field Representative was not in attendance or inadequate entries in permit breeds to qualify as an assignment or as a sufficient entry for evaluation.
Judging Evaluation Reports from the Executive Field Staff remain an important component of the review of judging applications. The absence of current reports does hinder the Judges Review Committee in their assessment. All judges are encouraged to request evaluations in breeds, permit or regular status, when entries are present.
The Requesting Regular Status Form is available on the AKC website in the Judging Resource Center.
