AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Best Junior Handler Seeks Financial Assistance for Crufts Trip

Lauren Hull won Best Junior Handler at the 2014 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship on December 13, 2014. By winning this prestigious award, she will represent the United States at Crufts’ Junior Showmanship competition.  For the past five years, Maggie Peat (former junior handler and second generation dog breeder) has successfully managed an online fundraiser to help with financial assistance for this trip. Every year, all excess funds raised are rolled forward for future junior travel expenses. You can donate to this on-going fund via PayPal here. There is also a Go Fund Me account for these purposes here.

“My name is Lauren Hull and I am 16 years old. Since I was 8 years old, I have been competing in dog shows. It has always been one of my goals to compete in the world’s biggest dog show, Crufts which is located in Birminham, England. In order to do this, though, I first had to win Best Junior Handler at the AKC Eukanuba National Dog Show. So I made this a goal.

After six years of competing at the Eukanuba show, I have finally reached my goal . Held in Orlando Florida, I won Best Junior Handler for 2014 at the AKC Eukanuba National Dog Show. Now I can finally achieve my goal to show at the Crufts dog Show.

As the 2014 winner of the AKC National Championship, I will be the United States of America’s representative for Crufts. HOWEVER, I will recieve no financial assistance to go to Crufts!! While winning this title, I recieved a generous $2,000 scholarship and other awards, this does not assist me in the cost of traveling to Crufts.

The funds raised are to provide air travel for myself and a chaperon (my mother) to Birmingham. The cost is thought to be between $1000-2000 per person, 5 nights in a hotel, and the heavy cost of food in the UK. I am also planning to start a fund for Juniors travelling to this prestigious dog show in the future.

I believe that this IS a once in a lifetime chance as I will not be competing in the AKC National Dog Show next year seeing that I have already won the title. I also want to be able to give others the same chance that I have so they, too, will be able to represent the USA in years to come.

Sincere Thanks
Lauren Hull”
