Among the many activities at the 2015 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, AKC and EUKANUBA™ Dog Foods will offer the first-ever Canine Breeder Excellence Seminar, powered by Royal Canin and the Theriogenology Foundation. Attendees will receive cutting edge information on a variety of reproductive topics straight from the veterinary experts. All breeders are welcome.

How nutrition influences reproductive performance.

“How to plant the seed and how to harvest the fruit” - Dr. William Schultz
Breeding methods to facilitate pregnancy, pregnancy diagnosis via ultrasound and parturition.
2:40 – 3:10 pm
“How to Harvest the Data to Manage the Yield- Using health databases to improve your success” - Dr. Frances Smith
Using health databases can allow the breeder to choose potential breeding pairs that should decrease the incidence of disease. This information will help in decreasing frequency of inherited polygenetic and simple autosomal recessive related traits in breeds of dogs

“The stud is from Mars, the bitch is from Venus: Planning the difficult breeding” - Dr. Kit Kampschmidt
A brief overview of the importance and application of advance preparations involved in canine breeding. Topics will include ovulation timing, semen evaluation, and the logistics of chilled and frozen artificial insemination along with other challenges faced when planning for that important breeding.

“Navigating the alphabet soup of genetic disease and testing” - Dr. Cindy O’Connor
With the growing advancements in genetics and the availability of genetic tests, which are being developed at an exponential rate, it is important for breeders to have a basic understanding of these techniques in order to control genetic diseases while maintaining genetic diversity, so bring your spoon!
