2015 World Dog Show – Turmoil Amongst American Staffordshire Terrier Crowd – Update
American Staffordshire Terriers were among the largest breed entries at the 2015 World Dog Show in Milan, Italy this year. Judge Mr. Rade Dakic of Serbia drew an impressive entry of 440 American Staffordshire Terriers, a breed known for its great strength and courageous temperament.
Besides the tremendous entry, American Staffordshire Terriers also gained attention at the 2015 World Dog Show due to a quarrel among spectators and exhibitors. According to eye witness accounts, the crowd around the American Staffordshire Terrier ring was very animated – with many cheering in favor or booing in disagreement with the judging. Unfortunately, the crowd’s excitement grew into a heated fight during the judging. Onlookers report that a dog was struck by a bottle after a class, which sparked the fight amongst exhibitors and the crowd. Eventually, the police were called and arrived ringside. The situation was finally under control before the Best of Breed judging.
UPDATE: The Italian Kennel Club (ENCI) requested the police intervention for the safety of all exhibitors, spectators, and dogs. The ENCI has also provided the police all relevant information to help in identifying those responsible for this very unfortunate event. If the individuals are identified, the ENCI will use the information to prevent similar events from happening in the future.
