Dear FCI Members and Contract Partners,
Dear Exhibitors,
Dear Officials,
The FCI and the Confederaçao Brasileira de Cinofilia (CBKC – Brazilian national canine organisation) inform that the new dates for the FCI 2022 World Dog Show, originally scheduled to take place in Sao Paulo (BR) in June 2022, have been officially approved.
The event will take place on 10-11 December 2022, i.e. about 6 months after the FCI 2020 World Dog Show, that will finally take place in Madrid on 24-26 June 2022.
Yeah, you’re reading that right. FCI will be hosting two annual World Dog Shows this year. No need to explore the myriad underlying reasons. The thing is that one World Dog Show per year tends to be quite sufficient for most hardy dog people. After doing a couple of these, you will never again whine about the “grueling” Westminster experience.
Just to recap, the World Dog Show has been the centerpiece of FCI competition since 1971. In that sense, it ranks as a modern innovation for that authoritative institution, which basically runs most of the purebred world. No, AKC is not the last word, nor is the venerated Kennel Club.
