The AKC Museum of The Dog Announces, “Salute To Search & Rescues” Art Contest

New York, NY – Calling all artists! In remembrance of the upcoming 20th anniversary of the terror attacks on 9/11, the AKC Museum of the is pleased to announce its “Salute to Search & Rescue Dogs” art contest.

The AKC is asking participants to create a painting that depicts the heroism of search and rescue dogs on 9/11. The contest will run from June 16th through August 16th. Everyone, no matter your artistic ability, is encouraged to participate.

“Search and rescue dogs played an integral role in the rescue and recovery efforts on and after the terror attacks,” said Alan Fausel, Executive Director of the AKC Museum of the Dog. “Sadly, all the dogs that contributed to those efforts have passed and on this milestone year, it’s more important than ever to honor them.

“Almost everybody remembers where they were on that day 20 years ago. I think that this art will not only honor search and rescue dogs but will capture America’s resilience. I’m looking forward to seeing it all on display with this upcoming exhibit.”

The top five’s art will be on display on the walls of the second floor of the museum as part of the new exhibit, 9/11 Remembered: Search & Rescue Dogs, opening in September. The winner of the contest will receive a cash prize and their art will be available for purchase in the Museum gift shop.
