Remembering Jean Fancy

We received the sad news that Jean Fancy passed away on July 1, 2020 at the age of 90.

Jean Fancy started judging in 1967 after a successful career of breeding and showing dogs and horses.

She received her basic dog education as the caretaker for the famous ‘Barmere” Boxer and Brussels Griffon kennel for many years.

Best known for breeding many Boxer, Miniature and Giant Schnauzer Champions, she also showed and/or bred Yorkshire Teriers, Miniature Pinschers, Maltese, Smooth Fox Terriers, Scottish Terriers, Poodles, Beagles and a Bulldog.

She received approval to judge All Breeds in 1993, thus “becoming the second half of the only All-Breed judging couple in the United States.”

She was nominated for Judge of the Year in 1993. She has judged in many foreign countries and was an instructor at the first AKC school in Pomona, CA. Jean Fancy was ranked as one of the 10 most respected judges by the Grassroots Group in 1987.

The Canine Chronicle extends sincere condolences to those who knew and loved Jean. She will be missed.
