Remembering Bernard Schwartz

We received the news that longtime judge Mr. Bernard Schwartz passed away on June 16th 2017.

Mr. Schwartz was a judge of the Sporting and Working Groups as well as Best in Show. Before beginning his judging career in 1989, Mr. Schwartz, along with his wife Francine, bred Great Danes. Although breeding on a limited basis, his Great Danes were successful in many countries.

He also was affiliated with the Park Shore and Chain O Lakes Kennel Clubs. He also spent time giving seminars on Great Danes and was involved in the Chicago-Milwaukee Judges Workshop.

Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz donated the pair of harlequin Great Dane porcelain statues that greet visitors in the reception area of the AKC headquarters in New York.

Family, friends, and traveling were also among Mr. Schwartz interests outside of the ring.

The Canine Chronicle would like to express our sincere condolences to Bernie’s family and friends during this time. He will be sorely missed.
