Los Angeles Times Reports on Parvovirus Outbreak
The Los Angeles Times has reported an outbreak of canine parvovirus in Los Angeles County, California. There have been 162 reported cases in the county this year, with 70 cases being reported in the past month. These numbers show that the rate of infection is rising.
Canine parvovirus is a highly infections disease that is dangerous and can be deadly to dogs. It has up to a two week incubation period before symptoms appear. Symptoms can include fever, lethargy, dehydration and vomiting. Canine parvovirus is also easily spread by human hands or shoes.
Los Angeles county has vaccinations available at the county office twice a month.
