In Memory of Luis Sosa
It is with sadness that we report the passing of Luis Sosa. Luis led a life devoted to dogs. Alongside his wife Patty, Luis was a successful dog show photographer, judge, and breeder.
Luis’s journey with French Bulldogs began in 1975 and became a defining part of his legacy. Together with his wife Patty, they bred dogs under the Bandog prefix. Over the past 34 years, Bandog has produced over 100 AKC Champions, with achievements including more than 400 Non-Sporting Group Firsts, 43 All-Breed Best in Show wins, and multiple National Specialty wins. Luis also co-bred Bullmastiffs, Miniature Longhaired Dachshunds, Afghan Hounds, and a Best in Show-winning Standard Poodle.
Luis’s dedication extended beyond breeding. He served the dog community as President of the Bayou Dachshund Club of New Orleans, Vice-President of the French Bulldog Club of America, and as President and AKC Delegate for the Louisiana Kennel Club. He was a proud and active member of numerous breed and kennel clubs, including the Morris & Essex Kennel Club, the Dachshund Club of America, the Bulldog Club of America, the Boston Terrier Club of America, and the American Bullmastiff Association.
Luis was equally accomplished in his professional life. Holding degrees in Biological Science and Civil Engineering, he practiced as a licensed Civil and Sanitary Engineer in multiple states, working as a private consultant.
Luis’s contributions to the sport will be remembered for years to come—our condolences to Luis’s family, children, and beloved wife Patty on their loss.
