Glenn Lycan Joins the AKC Event Operations Department

New York, NY – The American Kennel Club announced today that Glenn Lycan has joined the AKC Event Operations Department as Director, Event Operations Support, effective immediately. Lycan, who joined the AKC in 2002, most recently served as Director, Call Center and Registration Support.

In his new role, Lycan will assist conformation and obedience clubs in the planning of their events and address questions that arise during the process. He will work closely with show chairs and field representatives, and also serve as AKC’s primary liaison to show superintendents. Lycan brings more than 30 years of experience in AKC events to this position. Prior to joining AKC, he handled dogs professionally, ran a kennel business, and has been a member of several all-breed and Parent clubs including the Griffith Kennel Club, the Huntsville Kennel Club, the Samoyed Club of America and the Border Terrier Club of America.  He is currently a member of the Cary Kennel Club.

“The planning required to host dog shows and obedience trials can be complex, so we believe that Glenn’s extensive experience within the sport will be highly useful to clubs preparing for their events,” said Doug Ljungren, Vice President for Sports and Events. “We listened to club feedback requesting additional support in Event Operations, and we’re delighted to have someone of Glenn’s expertise join the department staff to work with our clubs.”

Along with Alan Slay and Bri Tesarz, Lycan will also assist in researching and structuring new conformation initiatives. Slay, Director of Event Operations, oversees the processing of conformation and obedience event applications and results as well as the implementation of application process improvements. Tesarz, Manager of Dog Show Rules and Programs, helps clubs interpret dog show rules, develops rules to support new conformation initiatives, and organizes the annual AKC National Owner-Handled Series Finals.

Clubs with questions can reach Lycan directly at GEL@akc.org.
