AKC Canine Health Foundation Announces Updates to Board of Directors

The American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation (CHF), a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the health of all dogs, is pleased to announce an updated roster for their Board of Directors.

Mary O. Smith, BVM&S, PhD, DACVIM was elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. A veterinary neurologist and breeder of Flat-Coated Retrievers, Dr. Smith has been active on the CHF Board of Directors for seven years. She also serves as Chairman of the Foundation’s Scientific Review Committee.

Mr. Steven Hamblin joins the CHF Board of Directors. Mr. Hamblin is a Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage real estate agent in Beverly Hills, CA and has bred and shown Pekingese for many years. He is the AKC delegate for the Pekingese Club of America and also serves on the AKC Board of Directors.

“Dr. Smith has a long history of exemplary support and enthusiasm for the AKC Canine Health Foundation’s mission,” states Dr. Charles Garvin, CHF Board Chairman. “Mr. Hamblin’s knowledge of the fancy and ability to engage fellow enthusiasts will bring new attention to CHF’s important work. The Foundation will benefit from the contributions of these and all board members as it continues to address the health needs of all dogs.”

Mr. Harvey Wooding leaves the CHF Board of Directors after three years of excellent service. Mrs. Susan LaCroix Hamil leaves her role as Vice Chairman and remains an active and long-standing board member.
