Lawsuit Threatens Annual Florida Classic Clusters Dog Show in Hernando
UPDATE: The majority of shows that make up the Florida Classic Cluster will be moving to Greater Ocala Dog Show Grounds in Ocala, Florida in 2013. Manatee KC and Clearwater KC will hold their shows at this location on January 10 & 11, 2013, with Inverness KC holding their show on the 12th at the traditional Brooksville, Florida location. Tampa Bay KC, Pasco Florida KC & Manatee KC will follow on January 13, 14 & 15, 2013 at the Ocala showgrounds. Inverness KC will be held on January 17th in Brooksville, Florida with Tampa Bay KC, Clearwater KC & Pasco Florida KC coming back to Ocala on January 18-20, 2013.
Cathy Dahlberg told us, “The shows have been approved by AKC at a new location, the shows will go on. They are approved on AKC”s site, and not yet updated on Infodog yet. A lot of hard work has gone into this to make the shows happen. I hope everyone can keep an open mind (regarding this situation).”

©Tampa Bay Times – … A lawsuit filed in Hernando County by the Inverness Florida Kennel Club has continued to drag on for more than a year. The suit alleges that officers of Florida Classic Park Inc. misappropriated money raised from events, withheld profits and failed to maintain detailed financial records for three years. The plaintiffs are seeking an accounting of the money.
The ongoing legal battle means the 2013 Florida Classic Clusters, scheduled to be held Jan. 10 to 14 and Jan. 16 to 20, likely will not be held at the Hernando facility, its home since 1999.
…Reached by phone, Mary Manning-Stolz said she preferred not to comment on the pending lawsuit, but confirmed that three of the shareholder clubs are looking to move the 2013 event to the Greater Ocala Dog Club.
