Crufts Home National Exhibition Centre For Sale
The Birmingham City Council has placed the National Exhibition Centre for sale. The city council has received a £1.1 bn bill for equal pay settlements to thousands of women employees who were not paid as much as their male counterparts. This is a major reason that the National Exhibition Center is for sale. The city council would like to ensure that the existing uses of the facility are preserved by potential private owners by implementing a screening and pre-qualification process. They city council hopes that the National Exhibition Centre will continue to grow and develop under private ownership.
Most notably for dog show fanciers, the National Exhibition Centre is home to the Crufts Dog Show, in addition to an array of head lining performers and conventions since its opening in 1976. The BBC reports that the National Exhibition Centre is home to more than 700 events and four million visitors per year.
